Rebirthing
is a safe and powerful technique involving breathing and counselling.
‘Letting go’ of long-held, limiting beliefs can be profoundly liberating,
a sort of ‘rebirth’, which is where the practice gets its name from.
To free your breath is to free your life.
How Does Rebirthing Work?
1 Breathing
Our breathing affects the way we feel and vice versa. The way we feel, influences our behaviour, our attitude. The way we inhale reflects the way we take life in. The way we exhale reflects the way we let go or not. Our breath mirrors our relationship with our universe. The intention of "the conscious connected breath" is to create an open and relaxed relationship with breathing, transforming our life. This specific breath has been used in kriya yoga for thousands of years.
2 The power of our thoughts and beliefs
Over the years we have made unconscious limiting decisions about ourselves and life, for example: “I am not good enough”, “life is a struggle”, “I can't”.. We blame circumstances or others, leaving us powerless. We forget that WE made the decisions which became our beliefs. By becoming conscious that we are the thinkers of our thoughts, we can choose the beliefs that work for us and let go of the ones which do not. With this new responsible attitude, we learn to see opportunities in situations which used to stop us. We no longer feel a victim but in control of our life. Whatever we focus on expands.
Each session lasts
approximately two hours.
It begins with a conversation about your specific issues or concerns with the intention of finding a new perspective.
You then lie down and breathe the “rebirthing breath” demonstrated by the rebirther. The body is radically oxygenated. This can re-awaken the body's dormant sensations, feelings, fears and incompletions that are stored in the cells (body and heart). The rebirther provides support and safety for you to feel your feelings. In your own time the rebirther guides you to identify the specific self imposed limiting beliefs at the root of the feelings. You then have the opportunity to remember that you are the thinker of this decision and that you have the choice in what you believe . With this new awareness and the breath, the burden left from the past dissolves. The experience gets to be integrated and healing takes place.
The process is an adventure in self discovery. It need not be traumatic or dramatic. It is however, about allowing and honouring the thoughts and feelings which are present. The breath speeds up the integration of the new perspective.
